Road projects in La Quinta and Palm Desert may impact drivers this week
Drivers across the Coachella Valley should be aware of several road projects that could impact commutes this week.
In La Quinta, the Miles Avenue Pavement Project continues with crews closing Miles Avenue in both directions between Adams Street and Washington Street.
This week, crews will move forward with lane and legend painting before beginning work to raise utilities along the roadway. CV Sync Program Manager Chris Gunterson says the project is expected to be completed by late July or early August.
Until the work is finished, drivers are encouraged to use Highway 111 or Fred Waring Drive as alternate routes.
In Palm Desert, Southern California Edison is conducting utility work near Cook Street and Frank Sinatra Drive.
Gunterson says traffic control measures in the area will continue to change as crews complete the project. Drivers may see the northbound left turn lane closed completely or traffic signals switched to flashing red.
Motorists are encouraged to use Portola Avenue or Washington Street to avoid delays. The work is expected to be completed within the next week or two.
Drivers are reminded to plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling through active construction areas.
