Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert Opens Registration for Backpack Giveaway

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert is helping local students prepare for the new school year with its sixth annual backpack giveaway.

Families can reserve free backpacks by phone or email through July 31. When registering, parents or guardians are asked to provide the number of backpacks needed, each child's grade level, their ZIP code and a preferred pickup date.

The organization says the information will help ensure families receive the appropriate supplies and streamline the pickup process.

Backpacks will be distributed Aug. 4 through Aug. 14 at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert office in Palm Desert.

The annual giveaway is designed to ease the financial burden of back-to-school shopping while helping students begin the academic year with the supplies they need for success.

Organizers encourage families who could benefit from the program to register before the July 31 deadline, as supplies may be limited.

The backpack giveaway has become an annual tradition for the organization, providing hundreds of local students with essential school supplies as they prepare to return to the classroom.
