County Approves Funding for Homeless Shelter Services Through 2031

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved new funding Tuesday to continue homeless shelter operations and support services throughout the county.

The agreements include partnerships with three nonprofit organizations:

  • - Coachella Valley Rescue Mission in Indio

  • - Path of Life Ministries in Riverside

  • - Valley Restart Shelter in Hemet

The county will provide more than $1.2 million during the current fiscal year to help support shelter operations and related services for people experiencing homelessness.

Supervisors also approved a separate agreement with the Coachella Valley Association of Governments, or CVAG, to help coordinate emergency shelter referrals throughout the region.

County officials say the funding will allow providers to continue offering emergency shelter while connecting individuals and families with housing assistance, case management and other support services designed to help move people toward permanent housing.

The agreements are scheduled to remain in place through June 2031 and are expected to total more than $6 million over the next five years.
