United Youth We Stand Celebrates Seven Years of Supporting Immigrant Communities

A Coachella Valley youth organization is celebrating seven years of advocating for immigrant communities and expanding support services across California.

United Youth We Stand began as a grassroots effort in 2019 and has since grown into a network with two chapters, more than a dozen community partners and a dedicated team of volunteers and board members.

Founder Samantha Rodriguez says the organization was inspired by a deeply personal experience after a close family member was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during President Donald Trump's first term. That experience motivated her to create a group focused on supporting and uplifting immigrant communities, including those in the Coachella Valley.

Throughout its seven-year history, the organization has centered its mission on advocacy, education and community engagement. Members have organized public demonstrations, partnered with local organizations and provided educational resources designed to help immigrant families understand their rights.

The group also distributes "Know Your Rights" cards and shares information through social media to help community members stay informed.

Although the organization paused operations between 2021 and 2024, members say their commitment to serving undocumented families never wavered.

As United Youth We Stand looks toward the future, leaders say their mission remains focused on building a community where immigrant families feel supported, empowered and connected, while continuing to lead with compassion and service.
