Man Arrested on Suspicion of DUI in Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS (CNS) - A 30-year-old man suspected of driving while

impaired and causing a multi-vehicle collision in Palm Springs was behind bars

today.

   

Gabriel Nieto Gutierrez-Roque of Rancho Cucamonga was booked on

suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the Palm Springs Police

Department.

   

The crash was reported at about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday on Indian Canyon

Drive north of Via Escuela.

   

Police said a vehicle made a lane change, sideswiping another vehicle.

The crash caused the second vehicle to cross into opposite traffic, where

it  collided head-on with a third. A fourth vehicle was also involved in the

collision.

   

Three people were injured taken to a local hospital. One was listed in

critical condition.

   

A temporary road closure was set on North Indian Canyon Drive between

E. Raquet Club and E. Via Escuela, but reopened later the same day.

   

The investigation was ongoing.
