Palm Desert Swim Club Holding Tryouts to Find the Coachella Valley's Next Olympic Hopeful
The Coachella Valley's only competitive swim team is looking to grow its roster and inspire the next generation of elite swimmers.
The Palm Desert Swim Club will host tryouts on August 15 for athletes between the ages of 6 and 16, giving local youth the opportunity to join a program that has spent the past decade developing championship-level swimmers throughout the region.
As a year-round member of USA Swimming, the organization follows the same pathway that has helped produce some of America's greatest Olympic athletes. Head coach says the club's mission extends far beyond local competitions.
"Our goal is to get swimmers all the way to the Olympic Games," the coach said. "If we have a Michael Phelps or a Katie Ledecky on our team, we'll do everything we can to develop them into Olympic champions."
The club has built a reputation over the last 10 years as a premier destination for competitive swimming in the Coachella Valley, providing year-round training and opportunities for athletes to compete at increasingly higher levels.
NBC Palm Springs will have the full story on Thursday, including details on how families can register for the August 15 tryouts and become part of the Palm Desert Swim Club program.
