New Parkinson's Awareness Campaign Focuses on Early Detection

Parkinson's disease can be devastating, but local advocates are working to help people recognize the signs earlier and get the support they need.

Eileen Lynch with the Parkinson's Resource Organization is helping lead a new awareness campaign focused on the importance of early detection and treatment.

More than one million Americans are currently living with Parkinson's disease, and that number continues to grow.

Lynch says one of the campaign's most important messages is that recognizing symptoms early and seeking treatment can significantly improve quality of life and help people better manage the disease.

For Palm Springs resident Art Gregory, early detection made a meaningful difference after receiving his diagnosis, helping him navigate life with Parkinson's and connect with valuable resources and support.

The campaign will feature messages in both English and Spanish through billboards along Interstate 10, social media outreach and spots on NBC Palm Springs.

Organizers say the goal is simple: to remind people that early support and treatment can help individuals live better and longer with Parkinson's disease.
