West Hollywood water main break causes widespread flooding, road closures

A major water main break in West Hollywood caused widespread flooding Thursday morning, turning streets into rivers and disrupting traffic throughout the area.

The break, which happened around 3 a.m., sent rushing water through neighborhood streets, pushing vehicles aside and flooding underground garages, stairwells, and other areas.

Video from the scene showed heavy water flow across roads, with some vehicles and buses partially submerged.

Residents said they initially thought they were hearing rain overnight, but soon realized the sound was water rushing through their streets.

Crews are now on site working to repair the damaged pipe and stop the flow of water. Officials are beginning damage assessments as several city blocks remain impacted by the flooding.
