Unidentified Man’s Body Found in Cathedral City Field
Cathedral City, CA
A man whose body was found in a Cathedral City field committed suicide, police said Thursday.
County coroner’s officials said the unidentified victim was pronounced dead just after 5 p.m. Wednesday after being found about 150 feet behind 27900 Date Palm Drive, just south of Interstate 10. According to Cmdr. Julio Luna, the body was found "in the tree line along the railroad tracks."
The man’s name will not be released, Luna said, after it was revealed to be a suicide. A coroner’s report says only that he was a Cathedral City resident.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike.
