Thanksgiving Online Shopping Hits Record $6.1 Billion in Sales

Online shoppers broke records this Thanksgiving, spending a staggering $6.1 billion, according to Adobe Analytics. This marks an impressive 9% increase from last year’s holiday spending. Popular items driving sales included toys and electronics, underscoring the high demand for holiday gifts during the season's kickoff. Mobile shopping played a crucial role in this year's success, with 60% of all online transactions completed via smartphones. This shift reflects the growing convenience of purchasing on-the-go, as retailers optimize mobile platforms for seamless shopping experiences. Experts attribute the rise in spending to early discounts, improved mobile technology, and consumer enthusiasm for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. Retailers also benefited from a strong focus on delivering tailored advertisements and flexible payment options, which resonated with holiday shoppers. The surge in Thanksgiving sales sets a positive tone for the holiday season, signaling robust consumer confidence. Retailers now anticipate even higher sales figures for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, continuing the trend of record-setting e-commerce growth. As shoppers embrace digital-first habits, online sales are expected to dominate this year’s holiday season, showcasing the evolving landscape of modern retail.
