American Airlines Is Bringing Starlink Wi-Fi to Its Fleet

American Airlines is partnering with SpaceX to bring Starlink satellite internet to more than 500 of its narrowbody Airbus aircraft, the airline announced. The rollout is set to begin in the first quarter of 2027, covering the domestic and short-haul international routes most passengers fly every day.

The upgrade is aimed at replacing the slow, unreliable in-flight Wi-Fi that travelers have long complained about. American says Starlink will enable seamless streaming and real-time communication on board, a significant step up from what's currently available at cruising altitude.

Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden said the airline is excited to bring "an at-home level of Wi-Fi experience" to passengers, letting them work, game, stream, and scroll without interruption. American has not yet announced pricing details for the new service.
