CVUSD Scandal Exposed: Union President Carissa Carrera Exonerated, District’s Retaliation Revealed

In an explosive revelation, CVUSD board member Valerie Garcia joined the conversation on the wrongful investigation into Carissa Carrera, the president of the teachers’ union. Garcia’s insights reveal a disturbing pattern of retaliation against Carrera orchestrated by the district, exposing a level of misconduct that has been swept under the rug by local media until now. Despite claims of an anonymous tip that led to the investigation into Carrera, Garcia, who only learned about the district’s hiring of a private investigator through the report, strongly criticizes the lack of oversight and authorization in the process. The investigation, which began in January 2023, centered around embezzlement charges. However, the private investigator hired by the district determined that the mistake was on the district’s part, not Carrera’s. This finding was later confirmed by the sheriff’s investigation, which ultimately cleared Carrera of any wrongdoing. Garcia expressed shock and disgust at the unauthorized nature of the investigation, noting that it was a political move aimed at silencing Carrera, who was vocal about district issues. She believes the timing of the investigation, occurring over a year after the alleged incident, raises serious questions about its motives. Furthermore, Garcia highlights how the district's actions were not just a personal attack on Carrera but an attempt to impede union business by suspending her from meetings and school grounds. Carrera, who had already been placed on leave during the investigation, should be reinstated immediately, according to Garcia. However, the damage has already been done. Carrera’s reputation has been tarnished, her family disrupted, and her holiday season ruined. Despite the exoneration, Garcia emphasizes that the district’s actions have far-reaching consequences, not only for Carrera but for the entire community. This scandal raises critical concerns about the misuse of public funds and power within CVUSD. It’s a situation that demands accountability and transparency, and Garcia is committed to ensuring the public knows the truth.
