At Least 8 Dead in Kentucky Due to Severe Overnight Storms, Governor Declares State of Emergency
Severe storms overnight in Kentucky have led to the deaths of at least eight people, with the hardest-hit area being Eastern Kentucky, where heavy rains caused the Cumberland River to rise. Louisville is facing a dangerous mix of rain, wind, and winter weather, which has led to washed-out roads and dangerous snow and ice-covered streets. Governor Andy Beshear confirmed that President Trump approved a natural disaster declaration, with FEMA responding to the most affected regions. Beshear described the storm as one of the most severe the state has ever experienced.
