Oregon International Students Lose Visa Status
A growing number of international students in Oregon are losing their visa eligibility without warning. Students say the sudden revocations have left them feeling anxious, helpless, and uncertain about their future. At Oregon State University, 13 students have already lost their visa status. Portland State reported two current students and one recent graduate impacted, while the University of Oregon reported at least four cases. The universities say they've received no explanation from federal authorities. Many fear the move is politically motivated, with international students being swept up amid pro-Palestinian protests and prior arrests. Advocates and attorneys are raising concerns about targeted immigration crackdowns. One OSU student said, “They haven’t done anything wrong—it’s unfair.” Another student from India described it as "disturbing and heartbreaking." Though some students still feel safe, others worry they or their loved ones could be next. President Trump has made immigration enforcement a top priority during his current term. Nineteen state attorneys general, including those from Oregon and Washington, are now backing a lawsuit against the Trump administration's visa revocations.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
