Two Years Since Titan Sub Tragedy
Today marks the two-year anniversary of the tragic implosion of the Titan submersible. The sub was on a mission to explore the Titanic shipwreck deep in the Atlantic Ocean. It lost contact shortly after beginning its descent, prompting an international search effort. Days later, debris from the sub was discovered, confirming it had suffered a catastrophic implosion.
All five people on board were killed in the incident. Among them was Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate, the company behind the expedition. British billionaire Hamish Harding was also on board, known for his deep-sea and space exploration efforts. French Titanic expert and diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a veteran of numerous dives to the wreck, also perished.
Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman were part of the group as well. Their deaths sent shockwaves through their home country and the international community. The tragedy raised serious concerns about safety regulations in deep-sea tourism. It also sparked global conversations about risk, adventure, and accountability.
