Unmarked Federal Immigration Agents Spotted in Palm Springs, Police Chief Confirms
Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills has confirmed that federal immigration enforcement agents were present in Palm Springs on Monday. The confirmation comes after reports that individuals identifying as federal officers were stopping and detaining people in the city—without uniforms or clearly marked vehicles.
Mills addressed the situation late Monday night in a Facebook post, stating, "I am aware that people without uniforms appeared as federal officers and stopped and detained individuals in Palm Springs."
He added that an ICE supervisor with Enforcement and Removal Operations confirmed a team was operating in Palm Springs that day.
According to Mills, the federal officers were driving vehicles with no outward markings to indicate they were law enforcement. The lack of identification and unmarked vehicles has raised concern among residents.
Chief Mills advised the public to be cautious and to contact 911 if approached by anyone claiming to be a federal agent who is not in uniform and does not present valid credentials.
The situation highlights ongoing tensions and fears in immigrant communities over federal enforcement actions, especially when they occur without transparency or coordination with local law enforcement.
