DOJ Continues Second Day of Interviews with Ghislaine Maxwell
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche continued interviews with convicted Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell at the federal courthouse in Tallahassee, Florida, on Friday.
Maxwell, who was convicted in 2021 on federal sex trafficking charges related to her role in Epstein's abuse of underage girls, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Maxwell's attorney David Oskar Marcus arrived at the courthouse ahead of the second day of meetings between DOJ officials and his client. Marcus told reporters that Maxwell has been treated unfairly during her five years in federal custody and has no incentive to provide false information to investigators.
"She will finally be able to say what really happened," Marcus said, adding that Maxwell has endured "terrible, awful conditions for five years."
Marcus described his client as "one of the strongest people I've ever met," stating that prison conditions have been so poor that "we wouldn't keep animals the way she's been kept in prison."
Maxwell has been incarcerated since her July 2020 arrest.
