Apple Pulls ICE Tracking Apps After DOJ Request
Apple has pulled several tracking apps from its App Store that alerted users to sightings of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The apps, including one called Ice Block, had been available since the spring. Their removal came Thursday after a request from the Department of Justice.
Apple confirmed the move in a statement, saying it acted after communication with law enforcement. In an email to the app’s creator, the company explained Ice Block and similar platforms no longer comply with App Store guidelines.
The decision highlights ongoing tensions between tech platforms, government agencies, and immigration enforcement policies, as digital tools are increasingly used by communities seeking real-time updates on ICE activity.
