Swalwell Campaign Points to New Polls Showing Him Leading Democratic Field in California Governor’s Race
Congressman Eric Swalwell’s campaign is highlighting new polling that it says shows him leading the Democratic field in California’s 2026 race for governor.
According to the campaign, multiple recent polls — including surveys from Emerson College Polling, Echelon Insights, and others — place Swalwell ahead of other Democratic candidates as the June 2 primary approaches.
A campaign spokesperson said the results underscore what they describe as growing support among likely voters, while also urging Democratic leaders to rally behind a single candidate.
The race is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched elections in the state, as current Governor Gavin Newsom is termed out in 2026, leaving the seat open.
Swalwell, who represents California’s 14th Congressional District, has centered his campaign on lowering costs, economic growth, and positioning himself as a strong opponent to former President Donald Trump.
The campaign also points to a growing list of endorsements from elected officials and labor groups across California, including members of Congress, state lawmakers, and major labor organizations.
While polling provides an early snapshot of the race, the primary election remains months away, and the field of candidates is expected to continue evolving.
