Voters Frustrated With Both Parties Could Decide 2026 Midterm Elections
A new CNN poll is highlighting widespread dissatisfaction with both major political parties, revealing a growing group of voters who could play a decisive role in the 2026 midterm elections.
According to the poll, about one in four Americans hold negative views of both Democrats and Republicans—often referred to as “double haters.” Despite their frustration, these voters currently lean toward Democratic candidates by a significant margin, suggesting they could shape the balance of power in Congress.
Overall, both parties are struggling with low favorability ratings. Just 28% of Americans view the Democratic Party positively, while 32% feel the same about the Republican Party. Analysts say this reflects a broader trend of voter dissatisfaction and political division across the country.
The poll also found that Democratic voters appear more motivated heading into the midterms. Among the most engaged voters, Democrats hold a notable advantage, driven in part by opposition to President Donald Trump rather than strong enthusiasm for the party itself.
At the same time, both parties face internal divisions. Democrats are grappling with disagreements over policy priorities and international issues, while Republicans are divided over the party’s direction and its relationship with Trump. Younger voters, particularly within the GOP, appear less engaged compared to older voters.
Experts say the election could ultimately come down to which party voters dislike less—a dynamic that has played a key role in recent election cycles. As frustration with both parties continues, the influence of these swing voters may once again prove critical.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
