Former Congressman Eric Swalwell Under Criminal Investigation After New Allegations
A criminal investigation is now underway in Los Angeles involving former Congressman Eric Swalwell, following a growing number of sexual misconduct allegations.
Authorities confirmed the investigation comes after multiple women accused Swalwell of assault or inappropriate behavior, with some claims dating back several years.
One accuser alleges she was drugged and sexually assaulted after meeting Swalwell in 2018. She says the incident happened during what she believed was a developing friendship. Her attorney says she reported the alleged incident to others at the time and retained evidence, including text messages and a photograph.
Swalwell’s legal team has strongly denied all allegations, calling them false and politically motivated.
Additional women have also come forward, alleging misconduct ranging from inappropriate messages to assault. Some say they were initially hesitant to speak publicly due to Swalwell’s position and influence.
The allegations have already led to major political consequences. Swalwell resigned from Congress following bipartisan pressure, bringing an end to his 13-year career in the House.
As the investigation moves forward, questions remain about potential charges and the broader impact on California politics.
