Trump Dismisses Prince Harry’s Ukraine Plea: 'He is Not Speaking for the UK'
WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump on Thursday brushed off remarks by Prince Harry calling for increased U.S. action to end the war in Ukraine. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump asserted that the British royal does not represent the official stance of the United Kingdom.
The friction follows Prince Harry’s recent visit to Ukraine, where he urged the United States to ramp up its support for Kyiv and called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to “choose a different course.” Harry’s advocacy for more aggressive international intervention has sparked debate over the role of non-working royals in global diplomacy.
“I know one thing, Prince Harry is not speaking for the UK, that’s for sure,” Trump said during a briefing with reporters. “I think I am speaking for the UK more than Prince Harry. But I appreciate his advice very much.” The President then added a sharp quip, asking, “How’s he doing? How’s his wife?” before telling the press to "give him my regards."
The public dismissal comes at a sensitive diplomatic moment, as King Charles III and Queen Camilla are scheduled to arrive in Washington next week for an official royal visit. The King’s itinerary includes high-profile stops at both the White House and the U.S. Capitol, marking a significant engagement between the two nations' leadership.
