WEST PALM BEACH, FL — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been moved out of the intensive care unit but remains hospitalized as he recovers from a severe bout of pneumonia. Giuliani, 81, had been in critical condition earlier this week, requiring mechanical ventilation to stabilize his oxygen levels before showing signs of improvement.
Spokesperson Ted Goodman confirmed on Wednesday that while the former mayor is no longer in the ICU, he is expected to remain under medical care for "some time." The illness was exacerbated by Giuliani's pre-existing diagnosis of restrictive airway disease, a chronic lung condition he developed after inhaling toxic dust at the World Trade Center site in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

While a similar case in Georgia was dropped last year, Giuliani remains a defendant in an Arizona election subversion case, where a trial date had been targeted for early 2026. Additionally, he continues to navigate the financial fallout of a 148 million dollar defamation judgment awarded to Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss.
