Trump Phone Begins Shipping Following Significant Delays and Specification Changes
The gold-plated Trump Phone is finally moving from pre-order status to reality. Nearly a year after Trump Mobile began taking $100 deposits, the company announced this week that shipping for the device, officially known as the Trump Mobile T1, will officially commence.
The $499 smartphone has faced a rocky road to the market. Originally scheduled to ship last August, the T1 has been plagued by delays related to software finalization and manufacturer agreements. While the signature gold hue remains, industry analysts note that the final product differs from early promises, featuring a smaller screen and less memory storage than initially touted. Tech experts have also pointed out that the device's physical specifications closely resemble a Chinese-manufactured phone that retails at Walmart for under $200.
The manufacturing origin of the T1 has been a particular point of contention. Initial marketing materials claimed the phone was "Made in the USA," but that language was later scrapped in favor of the phrase "designed with American values in mind." This change followed skepticism from industry trackers who noted the similarities between the T1 and international models.
The launch has also reignited ethical debates regarding the Trump Organization—currently run by Eric and Donald Jr.—profiting from the president’s name while he is in office. Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized the rollout, referring to the long delays as "another Trump scam."
For those who receive the device, the associated data and voice plan is priced at $47.45 per month—a nod to Donald Trump’s status as the 45th and 47th President of the United States. Trump Mobile confirmed that those who pre-ordered the device should expect an update email as the first wave of phones leaves the warehouse this week.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
