Marilyn Monroe’s 100th Birthday Celebrated with Empire State Building Tribute
A Hollywood legend was honored today as celebrations continued across the country marking what would have been Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday.
In New York City, the iconic Empire State Building illuminated its tower lights in a sparkling shade of red during a special ceremony recognizing Monroe’s enduring influence on entertainment, fashion, and popular culture.
The tribute is part of a nationwide series of events celebrating the life and legacy of the actress, model, and cultural icon, whose image remains one of the most recognizable in the world decades after her death.
The milestone birthday has also been celebrated here in the Coachella Valley. Last weekend, Palm Springs hosted a record-breaking gathering of Marilyn Monroe look-alikes, drawing 1,037 participants dressed as the legendary star.
Organizers say the event officially set a new world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Marilyn Monroe, surpassing previous marks and highlighting the city’s long-standing connection to the actress.
Palm Springs has embraced Monroe’s legacy for years, including the prominent downtown statue that has become a popular attraction for visitors from around the world.
From New York City to Palm Springs, the celebrations reflect Monroe’s lasting place in American culture and the continued fascination with one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons.
