Pentagon Clears Air Quality Scare; Pasadena Police Release 'Horseplay' Shooting Video
The Pentagon has returned to normal operations following a temporary shelter-in-place order triggered by an air quality alert on Thursday morning. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that the building's sophisticated environmental systems initially flagged a potential issue, prompting precautionary security measures and corridor lockdowns until the significance of the reading could be determined. Multiple federal response teams, alongside emergency hazardous materials units from Virginia, were immediately deployed to the military headquarters. Subsequent testing successfully verified that no actual hazard existed, allowing officials to lift the lockdown restrictions within a few hours. Authorities have not publicly specified the exact technical trigger behind the initial sensor alarm.
Meanwhile, municipal officials in Pasadena, California, have released disturbing vehicular camera footage documenting an accidental police shooting that occurred inside the department's parking structure last September. According to Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris, the critical incident was the direct result of unsafe, out-of-policy horseplay involving loaded firearms between officers preparing to launch their shifts. The newly unsealed footage shows a patrol vehicle approaching two standing colleagues, one of whom drew and pointed a weapon at the cruiser before holstering it. The officer inside the vehicle then pulled out his own firearm, which accidentally discharged through the front windshield, striking the standing officer and causing significant injuries. The department delayed releasing the video to protect the integrity of the investigation, and the wounded officer has since recovered.
