🎭 Palm Springs is buzzing with entertainment this weekend—and it starts with an exclusive conversation with Joyce Bulifant and Luke Yankee!
On this week's episode of Desert Entertainment, writer-director Luke Yankee and beloved actress Joyce Bulifant sat down to talk about their latest project, "The Love Bite." The staged reading takes place at the Annenberg Theater on Sunday, March 2nd at 12 PM, with proceeds benefiting the Palm Springs Art Museum.
The play centers around a young Irish girl whose mystical hickey (in the shape of Jesus) gives her healing powers, blending humor with heart. Bulifant, who plays the bawdy Irish grandmother, shared her excitement:
"It’s a character that’s outspoken and a little naughty—it’s been such a fun role to play!"
Yankee explained that while the staged reading is set for Sunday, there are discussions about a full production in the future. A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
