Opera Star Valerian Ruminski Brings “Opera Exposed” to Revolution Stage Company
An award-winning opera singer who has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages is bringing his talents to Palm Springs. Valerian Ruminski, a Lincoln Center Award winner who has sung at the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, and most recently at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, will premiere his new show “Opera Exposed” at Revolution Stage Company on Wednesday, October 8, at 7 p.m.
Currently serving as the theater’s director of development, Ruminski says the show is designed to give audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the world of opera. “It’s not all glory and glamour,” he explained. “There are a lot of strange and crazy things that go on, and I wanted to share some of those stories.”
“Opera Exposed” mixes storytelling, music, and audience participation. Guests can expect anecdotes from Ruminski’s international career, snippets of beloved opera melodies, and even some Broadway and pop tunes woven into the program. “It’s my musical journey,” he said. “From childhood songs to pop music in my 20s, then Sinatra and Broadway, and finally opera.”
The performance will also feature special appearances by local favorites including Joey English, Michelle Fiore, and Doug Nagel, with musical direction from pianist Joel Baker. Audience members will even be invited to join in on some of the best-known opera themes—no Italian or French required.
Tickets are available now at revolutionstagecompany.com.
