New Stephen King Adaptation Opens This Weekend
"The Long Walk," a new film based on Stephen King's dystopian novel, hits theaters this weekend with a chilling premise: young men volunteer for a deadly endurance contest where only one survives.
The movie follows contestants in a future America competing for fame and fortune, but the rules are brutal—keep walking or face elimination. Mark Hamill stars as "The Major," the authority figure overseeing the contest.
In a Hollywood Minute interview, Hamill discusses what drew him to the dark material and how he developed his intimidating character by drawing on memories from his childhood on a naval base. He also reveals how the film's unique shooting approach—complete continuity—allowed audiences to witness the contestants' physical and mental deterioration throughout their ordeal.
Watch the full Hollywood Minute interview with Mark Hamill and reporter David Daniel above for more insights into this intense Stephen King adaptation.
