The Blair Witch Project Reboot Set for September 2027 Release
One of the most influential horror films of all time is making a comeback.
Twenty-seven years after The Blair Witch Project shocked audiences and became a cultural phenomenon, a reboot of the franchise is scheduled to hit theaters in September 2027.
Movie studio Lionsgate says the project will offer a fresh vision of the classic story while introducing the legendary horror franchise to a new generation of moviegoers.
Details about the film remain limited, and it is not yet known whether the reboot will continue the original movie's groundbreaking found-footage style that helped redefine the horror genre.
Released in 1999, The Blair Witch Project was produced on a shoestring budget and became one of the most successful independent films in history, earning nearly $250 million worldwide and inspiring countless found-footage films that followed.
Fans of the original can take some comfort in knowing that the film's creators are returning as executive producers, helping guide the next chapter of the franchise.
With nostalgia-driven reboots continuing to dominate Hollywood, the return of The Blair Witch Project could once again bring audiences back into the woods—where not everything is as it seems.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
