Hey, What's Up Doc? Bugs Bunny, Bubble Tea, and Thank You Thursday Are All on the Calendar Today!
First up, and perhaps the most iconic of today's honorees, it is National Bugs Bunny Day! On this date back in 1938, the world's most famous wise-cracking rabbit made his very first appearance in a short film, and pop culture has never been the same. Whether you spend the day binge-watching classic cartoons, snacking on carrots, or greeting everyone you pass with that signature salutation, there is no wrong way to celebrate 88 years of one of animation's greatest legends.
Next on the calendar, it is National Bubble Tea Day! The beloved cold drink, blending tea with milk or fruit flavors and loaded with chewy tapioca pearls, has built a devoted following around the world. If you have never had one before, brace yourself for the surprise of those boba pearls making their way through the oversized straw. It is a whole experience. For the fans, today is your day to sip in style.
Finally, today also marks Thank You Thursday, observed on the last Thursday of April as part of National Stationery Week. The idea is a simple and sweet one, to put pen to paper and send a little warmth and gratitude to the people who matter most. In a world full of texts and emails, a handwritten note hits differently.
In honor of Thank You Thursday, Jerry put together two thank-you-themed pop quiz questions. Think you know your TV history and your late-night trivia? Watch the video to find out if you are right!
1) Andrew Gold was a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who found his biggest success in the 70s and 80s. His most beloved composition, "Thank You for Being a Friend," hit the pop charts in 1978 and later became the iconic theme song for which television sitcom?
A) The Golden Girls
B) Laverne and Shirley
C) Who's the Boss
2) "Thank You Notes" is a beloved recurring comedy segment in which a late-night host performs satirical, lighthearted thank-you messages to the everyday annoyances and funny quirks of modern life, all set to soft piano music. Which late-night host is famous for this bit?
A) Jimmy Fallon
B) Seth Meyers
C) Stephen Colbert
Watch the video above to see how Jerry and the team did, and find out if you can beat their score. Happy Thank You Thursday, happy National Bugs Bunny Day, and happy sipping if bubble tea is your thing!
