Happy National Pizza Party Day! Whether you are a pepperoni purist, a supreme stacker, or someone who secretly loves anchovies (no judgment… okay, maybe a little), today is the perfect excuse to gather your crew and dig in. National Pizza Party Day falls on the third Friday in May every year, making it one of the most delicious recurring events on the calendar.
But that is not all today has going for you. It is also National Bike to Work Day, another third-Friday-in-May tradition dedicated to cleaner air, healthier commutes, and a little extra leg day you did not plan for. And rounding out today's holiday trio, we are celebrating National Nylon Stocking Day, honoring the 1940 invention that gave the fashion world an affordable alternative to silk hosiery during World War II.

Palm Springs is mourning the loss of beloved entertainer James “Gypsy” Haake, who has died at 94. Haake began his entertainment career at just 19 years old as a Broadway chorus dancer. After retiring from the stage, he returned to performing at 82, becoming the host of Carnival Cabaret at Oscars in downtown Palm Springs. A longtime friend of our station, Haake was a familiar and beloved figure in the Palm Springs entertainment community — and his contributions were recognized with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
