5-Vehicle Crash on Gene Autry Trail Sends 3 to the Hospital; Roadway Open
Three people were transported for hospital treatment following a five-vehicle crash Monday morning that shut down Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs in both directions for about four hours.
The crash was reported at 7:46 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Interstate 10, said Capt. Nathan Gunkel of the Palm Springs Fire Department. He said three people were hospitalized, including a woman with “critical” injuries.
Palm Springs police Sgt. Mike Casavan said around noon that the woman, who was not identified, was awake and alert at the hospital.
Gene Autry Trail was closed in both directions from I-10 to Via Escuela until 12:16 p.m., according to police.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
