Weather is compounding the challenges—snow in Chicago caused significant delays at O’Hare Airport, while rain disrupted flights in Boston. On the West Coast, crews are clearing debris from a bomb cyclone that created hazardous road conditions, particularly in Washington State's mountain passes. Despite these hurdles, road trips remain a popular option. Over 70% of Americans plan to drive for the holiday, fueled by the lowest Thanksgiving gas prices since 2020. AAA reports an average drop of 25 cents per gallon compared to last year, with many paying $3 or less. Travelers are advised to pack patience. With traffic doubling in congested areas and weather-related disruptions looming, staying local—especially in places like the Coachella Valley—might be the most stress-free option this Thanksgiving.
