New Yorkers Arrested in Palm Springs Hate Crime

Three New York residents were arrested Saturday on suspicion of a hate crime after allegedly assaulting a transgender woman in Palm Springs. Authorities responded to the scene of a physical altercation near a parking structure on South Indian Canyon Drive around 1:15 a.m. The incident started as a family dispute, where a boyfriend tried to assist an intoxicated woman. When two women intervened, the suspects physically attacked them, using derogatory language toward one of the women, who was transgender. The suspects were booked on charges of battery and a hate crime, with bail set at $10,000 each.
