HERO OF THE WEEK: Dr. Carreon Foundation: Empowering Students & Changing Futures
Education is often the key to opportunity, and for many students in the Coachella Valley, the Dr. Carrion Foundation is making that opportunity possible.
Since its inception, the foundation has awarded nearly $2 million in scholarships, helping over 900 students pursue their dreams at colleges, universities, and trade schools. Originally established to support students of Mexican ancestry, the foundation expanded its mission last year to include students of African, Native American, and Asian backgrounds.
Through its scholarships, the Dr. Carrion Foundation aims to provide financial support, encouragement, and a pathway to success for students who may otherwise struggle to afford higher education.
Their dedication to empowering young minds and strengthening communities is why the Dr. Carrion Foundation is our Hero of the Week.

Hundreds gathered outside the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., for the “Hands Around the Kennedy Center” rally, protesting President Donald Trump’s handling of the performing arts center. The demonstration came after the Kennedy Center board voted to close the facility for repairs and amid an ongoing dispute over the center’s future. Former Silvercrest CEO, William Rodriguez is expected back in court today in connection with the deadly 2024 Cathedral City hit and run that killed a woman. The murder charge was dismissed, but Rodriguez still faces felony hit and run and suspended license charges.
