Know Your Rights Event in Coachella Offers Legal Guidance on Immigration Issues This Weekend
This Saturday, Coachella residents are invited to attend a crucial "Know Your Rights" event designed to help the community stay informed on legal matters related to immigration. The event will take place at the Coachella Library on 6th Street from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM and will feature Attorney Rosa Elena Sahagun, who will provide legal guidance alongside accredited agents from the Department of Justice.
The session will focus on providing answers to questions about what to do if you are approached by police or ICE agents, whether at your home, on the street, or in any other situation where your immigration status may be questioned. Given the increasing ICE presence in the Coachella Valley, organizers want to ensure the community is well-prepared and aware of their rights.
The event will also include participation from the Mexican consulate, offering specific information for Mexican nationals. With an immigration lawyer on hand to address concerns, this event is a vital resource for anyone seeking clarity on how to navigate legal challenges related to immigration status.
