Volunteers Refresh Rainbow Crossing in Preparation for LGBTQ+ Days
Saturday morning, volunteers came together to refresh the paint on the iconic Rainbow Crossing in Cathedral City, getting it ready for the upcoming Cathedral City LGBTQ+ Days next weekend. Starting at 9 a.m., community members gathered to touch up the colorful stripes that represent pride and inclusivity.
The event was a fun, vibrant way to kick off the festivities leading up to the March 7th through 9th event. As volunteers worked together, they celebrated their community's diversity and unity, ensuring that the Rainbow Crossing would shine brightly for the thousands of attendees expected next weekend.
This annual tradition not only helps prepare the city for the celebration but also serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community. The freshly painted crossing will serve as a colorful symbol of pride during the event and throughout the year.
With LGBTQ+ Days just around the corner, the refreshed Rainbow Crossing will be an exciting landmark for those participating in the festivities. Volunteers were able to enjoy the colorful experience while giving back to the community, ensuring a memorable weekend ahead.

Palm Springs is mourning the loss of beloved entertainer James “Gypsy” Haake, who has died at 94. Haake began his entertainment career at just 19 years old as a Broadway chorus dancer. After retiring from the stage, he returned to performing at 82, becoming the host of Carnival Cabaret at Oscars in downtown Palm Springs. A longtime friend of our station, Haake was a familiar and beloved figure in the Palm Springs entertainment community — and his contributions were recognized with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
