Desert Best Friends Closet Empowers Job Seekers with Fashion Show Fundraiser
First impressions are everything when it comes to securing employment, and Desert Best Friends Closet in Palm Desert is dedicated to helping individuals look and feel their best. This local nonprofit provides essential services for people overcoming barriers to employment through its Bridge to Employment program. From professional attire to resume writing, job applications, and interview preparation, Desert Best Friends Closet helps people gain the skills and confidence needed to land meaningful jobs.
"This program makes a huge difference because many times individuals in our community with barriers need somebody to advocate for them and pave the way for employment opportunities," said a representative from the organization. The nonprofit empowers people to succeed not just in the workforce but in life, providing the tools necessary to help them thrive.
Desert Best Friends Closet is now preparing for its 11th annual "Put Your Best Shoe Forward" fundraising fashion show and luncheon on Friday, April 4th, at Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage. The event offers clients the chance to share their success stories and connect with the community. “Our luncheon is important because it gives our clients an opportunity to give their testimonials and share their success stories with the community,” said a spokesperson for the event.
Each year, the nonprofit helps hundreds of clients improve their appearance and boost their confidence, increasing their chances of securing employment. Through these services, Desert Best Friends Closet continues to make a positive impact on individuals’ lives, one step at a time.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike.
