Coachella Music and Arts Festival Kicks Off This Weekend
The highly anticipated Coachella Music and Arts Festival is set to begin this Friday, from April 11th to 13th, attracting thousands of attendees from across the globe to the Coachella Valley. This popular event, celebrated for its diverse lineup of music and artistic showcases, marks the official start of the festival season. Festival-goers can look forward to three days filled with performances from various artists, art installations, and a vibrant atmosphere that defines Coachella. Following the first weekend, the festival will have a second weekend from April 18th to 20th, promising another chance for attendees to immerse themselves in the unforgettable experience. Immediately after Coachella, the Stagecoach Festival will take place from April 25th to 27th, showcasing country music artists and further adding to the festive spirit of the region.

Nearly a year after wildfires tore through Mountain Center, the scars are still visible along the Palms to Pines Highway. Now, fire crews are working to repair those burn areas and reduce the risk of flooding, erosion and mudslides when heavy rain arrives. The work includes fire-line suppression repairs, water bars and other measures designed to slow rainwater and keep burned soil from washing away. CAL FIRE Riverside County Battalion Chief Ryan Lubin says the steep terrain, dry brush and limited access continue to create challenges for mountain communities. With El Niño conditions expected to bring periods of heavy rain, officials say preparing now could help protect homes and communities from the aftermath of wildfire.
