Palm Springs City Council to Discuss Airport Shade Structures, Planning Commission Expansion
Palm Springs City Council will gather tonight for its regularly scheduled meeting—now held on Wednesday evenings—with key discussions planned on improvements at the city’s airport and changes to the Planning Commission.
One major item on the agenda is a proposal to install shade structures at Palm Springs International Airport. The addition would aim to improve comfort for travelers, especially during the valley’s extreme heat months. Council members are expected to review design options and potential funding sources.
Another topic of interest is a proposed expansion of the city’s Planning Commission. The recommendation would increase the commission from seven to eight members, potentially broadening representation and input on development and zoning matters throughout Palm Springs.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Palm Springs City Hall and is open to the public. Residents are encouraged to attend or view the session online to stay informed about developments impacting the city.
