Dining Out for Life Returns to Greater Palm Springs to Fund Lifesaving Health Services
One of the Coachella Valley’s most beloved traditions returns — and it comes with a powerful mission. Dining Out For Life Greater Palm Springs marks its 21st year, bringing together local food lovers and generous restaurateurs to support DAP Health’s life-saving services.
Over 70 participating restaurants, cafés, and bars — spanning from Palm Springs to Palm Desert — will donate a significant portion of their entire day's sales, between 33% and 110%, directly to DAP Health. The organization provides comprehensive care to nearly 88,000 residents, many of whom face systemic barriers such as poverty, housing insecurity, or lack of insurance.
“This isn’t just about going out to eat — it’s about stepping up for our community,” said Steven Henke, Chief of Brand Marketing at DAP Health. With ongoing threats to federal funding for HIV prevention and community health centers, local support has never been more crucial.
DAP Health offers a wide range of services including HIV specialty care, mental health services, dental care, housing assistance, and gender-affirming care — all without conditions. Last year’s event raised more than $280,000, surpassing even cities like New York and Los Angeles. With 20,000 diners expected this year, Greater Palm Springs is once again aiming for the top.

Palm Springs is mourning the loss of beloved entertainer James “Gypsy” Hawk, who has died at 94. Hawk began his entertainment career at just 19 years old as a Broadway chorus dancer. After retiring from the stage, he returned to performing at 82, becoming the host of Carnival Cabaret at Oscars in downtown Palm Springs. A longtime friend of our station, Hawk was a familiar and beloved figure in the Palm Springs entertainment community — and his contributions were recognized with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
