Riverside County Waives Adoption Fees Amid Large Dog Overcapacity Crisis
Riverside County is grappling with a critical overcapacity issue in its animal shelters, particularly among large dogs. In an urgent effort to find loving homes for these animals and free up much-needed space, Riverside County has partnered with the Bissell Pet Foundation to waive all adoption fees at its four county shelters through May 15.
This special initiative means that anyone adopting a pet during this period will not only save on fees but also receive a comprehensive package of services. Every adoptable animal will come with up-to-date vaccinations, a microchip, an ID tag, and spay or neuter services—all at no cost to the adopter.
Animal services officials are urging residents to consider adoption, noting that the shelters are beyond capacity and that large dogs are especially in need. “By adopting now, you’re not only gaining a loyal companion, but you’re also helping to ease the tremendous strain on our shelter system,” said a county spokesperson.
The waived fees and included services are available at all four Riverside County shelters, making it easier than ever to welcome a new pet into your home. With the promotion running until May 15, local animal advocates hope to see a surge in adoptions that will give these deserving animals a second chance.
For more information about available pets and shelter locations, residents are encouraged to visit the Riverside County Animal Services website or stop by any county shelter. Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference in an animal’s life—and perhaps your own.
