Palm Springs Celebrates Marilyn Monroe’s 99th Birthday at Forever Marilyn Statue
In case you missed it, an icon’s 99th birthday was celebrated this past weekend in downtown Palm Springs. Hundreds gathered on Sunday to honor the legendary Marilyn Monroe at the site of the beloved Forever Marilyn statue, where fans enjoyed music, sweet treats, and a lively Marilyn Monroe lookalike contest.
The 26-foot-tall statue, which stands in a downtown park not far from its original location, has become a signature landmark for Palm Springs. Now permanently installed, Forever Marilyn continues to draw nearly a million visitors each year, offering a glimpse into Hollywood history for locals and tourists alike.
The birthday festivities featured a celebratory atmosphere, with live performances, photo opportunities, and plenty of fans channeling Monroe’s timeless style. The Marilyn lookalike contest drew particular attention, showcasing participants dressed in the icon’s signature fashions.
As Palm Springs gears up to mark Monroe’s 100th birthday next year, the Forever Marilyn statue remains a symbol of glamour, nostalgia, and community pride.
