Desert Hot Springs Man Arrested After Alleged Hit-and-Run Crash in Cathedral City

A Desert Hot Springs man is facing possible felony charges following an alleged hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist injured in Cathedral City.

According to police, the incident happened on Date Palm Drive just north of Perez Road. The victim, a local man, was riding his bike in the designated bike lane when he was struck from behind by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries.

Officers say the suspect, 22-year-old Miguel Angel Romero Vallejo, fled the scene on foot. He was located walking about a mile from the crash site just ten minutes later.

Vallejo was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of felony hit and run. His bail was set at $25,000.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not released further details about the victim’s condition.
