Palm Springs Animal Shelter Showcases Adorable Pets Ahead of Free Clear the Shelters Event
The Palm Springs Animal Shelter is getting ready for its annual Clear the Shelters adoption event this weekend, offering free adoptions thanks to more than 120 local donors. The shelter, currently at 250–300% over capacity, is eager to match every pet with a loving home.
During a live segment, reporter Mary Strong introduced viewers to some of the animals waiting for adoption. Mr. Rob, a long-haired kitten found as a stray with his siblings, is described as affectionate, playful, and cuddly. Ronan, a four-month-old Malinois Shepherd mix, came in as a stray and quickly won over staff with his affectionate personality.
Also looking for a home is Icy, a 6½-year-old senior dog surrendered due to her owner’s health issues. She loves toys, gets along with kids and other dogs, and enjoys a mellow lifestyle. Chava, an eight-year-old husky, recently returned from a foster home where he was praised for his good manners, compatibility with children, and obedience.
Shelter staff say this year’s event is made possible by community members who have sponsored adoption fees for animals they can’t personally take in. The adoption event runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Organizers recommend arriving early, as last year saw long lines before doors opened. For more details on the animals available for adoption, visit NBCPalmSprings.com.
