Palm Springs Hosts First Fix-It Fair to Reduce Electronic Waste

The City of Palm Springs will hold its inaugural Fix-It Fair on Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mizell Center located at 480 S. Sunrise Way.

The free event, organized by the city's Sustainability Department, aims to reduce waste by connecting residents with volunteer repair specialists who will attempt to fix broken household items. Participants can bring up to two items each, including small appliances, electronics, sewing machines, bicycles, lamps, and torn clothing or textiles.

The community initiative brings together local repair businesses and volunteers to provide hands-on repair services and teach basic repair skills to residents. While advance registration is encouraged, walk-in participants will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
