Storm Knocks Out Power to Over 1,000 in North Shore

Severe weather across the Coachella Valley continues to create widespread impacts, with storm activity leaving more than 1,000 customers without electricity in the East Valley community of North Shore.

According to the Imperial Irrigation District (IID), the outages began Monday evening as strong winds and heavy rain moved through the area. Crews are working to assess the damage and begin repairs, but officials say there is no current estimate for when service will be restored.

For residents in North Shore and surrounding communities, the outage comes at a difficult time as flooding and debris are already affecting travel across the region. IID is urging customers to report any outages or electrical issues directly by calling their service line, which was displayed at the bottom of local news broadcasts Monday night.

Officials stress that safety should remain a top priority during storm conditions. Residents are reminded to avoid downed power lines, use caution when relying on backup generators, and check on neighbors who may need assistance during the outage.

The Coachella Valley has been hit with multiple storm-related issues, from flooded roadways in Cathedral City and Palm Desert to washed-out streets in Joshua Tree. With crews working around the clock, officials are asking residents to remain patient and cautious until weather conditions improve and full services can be restored.
