‘One Night Out: Paris’ brings community together to support Palm Springs Unified students
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — A Paris-themed celebration this weekend will help fund classroom grants, field trips and programs for the 19,000 students of Palm Springs Unified School District.
The Palm Springs Unified School District Foundation is hosting its fourth annual “One Night Out” at the Palm Springs Air Museum. This year’s theme transforms the venue into the “City of Lights,” with French-inspired entertainment, live music, dining and dancing.
But beyond the glamour, the foundation’s director Ellen Goodman said the purpose is clear: supporting the district’s students.
“Because of our sponsors, every single ticket sale can go to the classroom,” Goodman said. “Our goal is to make sure the community’s support translates directly into student impact.”
Funds raised from the event go toward classroom grants, field trips and different district programs that help students excel. In recent years, the foundation has filled funding gaps that provide students with experiences and opportunities they might not otherwise have.
For some sponsors, supporting the event is personal. Dee Dee Wilson Barton, owner of Barton CPA, said her family’s connection to the district spans generations.
“My staff’s children are going through the school district, and I’ve hired interns from the high school,” Barton said. “I’m looking to this district to educate my future employees.”
Goodman emphasized that the evening is more than just a fundraiser. It’s also a way to bring the community together while celebrating culture and creativity.
“You’ll walk into the Air Museum and feel like you’re walking the streets of Paris,” Goodman said. “There will be cafés, musicians and artists—everything you’d imagine around the Eiffel Tower or Moulin Rouge.”
The event runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday October 4th. General admission is $50 and VIP tickets are $100. Tickets are available at onenightoutparis.com.
