Raindrop Makes a Splash on Pet of the Week
Dan Rossi with The Palm Springs Animal Shelter dropped by the studio this morning to spotlight Raindrop, a tiny gray kitten with beautiful gray-blue eyes who was found during last week's rainstorm. At just 4-5 weeks old, this fluffy long-haired cat captured hearts in the studio, but won't be ready for adoption for another 3-4 weeks.
Raindrop represents the ongoing kitten season challenge facing local shelters. The Palm Springs Animal Shelter currently houses over 400 animals, including more than 300 cats and kittens seeking forever homes.
Urgent: Pet Food Drive Tomorrow
The shelter is hosting their "Cans 'N Kibble" pet food drive on September 26 from 10 AM to 3 PM at four convenient locations:
Palm Springs Animal Shelter, 4575 E. Mesquite Ave., Palm Springs
Desert Community Animal Center, 13700 Palm Drive, Desert Hot Springs
Sun Community Federal Credit Union, 82195 Avenue 42, Indio
Rancho Mirage Library, 71100 CA 111, Rancho Mirage
The pet food bank, which helps pet owners across the valley keep their animals rather than surrender them, has seen a 31% increase in need since last year and has fed over 6,883 animals through September. Current inventory is extremely low.
Needed: Full, unopened bags of kibble (any size) and cans of pet food. Monetary donations can also be made through their website to support the pet food bank.
Contact the Palm Springs Animal Shelter for more information about adopting Raindrop when she's ready or to learn about other available pets.
